Nowdays way of living is too urgend. People dont have enough time to each other. If you are allways
in hurry you miss people,s toughts, emotions and all the small details in life. For me taking pictures is slowing down. When you slow down enough you start to see.
STATEMENT / Lorine Chauchard
Sami Parkkinen's photos mix realism and onirism with great sensitiveness. "On the verge", these photographs are sometimes cheeky but never derisive, on the contrary they convey a very tender look at the world around us ; they also express with beautiful shades the whole gamut of human feelings, solitude, nostalgia, oddness and sharing.
His work on colours is also particularly remarkable, which makes his images strong aesthetic pieces altogether very lively, associating cold and steely shades, typical of easter countries, with touches of bright colours, which are like flashing bursts of life.
I am moved by Parkkinen's very personal universe and for the look he takes at the world is altogether peculiar, intelligent, sensitive and beautiful.
